This week is DIBELs testing. We have been working on fluency to help prepare. At the end of the week we will have a DIBELs Fluency Concert singalong with grades 3-5 to celebrate how hard students have worked on reading this year!
I hope everyone had a refreshing and enjoyable Spring Break. As soon as students come back we will hit the road running in order to finish everything we need to learn before Sage Testing. We only have 8 weeks of school left!
Term 3 is at an end and final grades will be available online by Wednesday afternoon. Term 4 is starting and we will be prepping for our last book report. Time will be given in class to read as well as work on the book report. Students are to pick a mythology book, pass it off with me, finish reading it, and report it on a T-Shirt. I will provide the T-shirts for this book report, parents do not need to purchase anything for their student.
This week is our Pioneer Wonder Day. Parents students are welcome to wear pioneer inspired clothes on Friday. Our wonder day will start at 8:50 if you are volunteering. Please remember to bring the items you volunteered to donate ASAP. Thanks!
This Friday students will have their Biography Wax Museum. Starting the first week of term 3 in January, students have had time in class and were told to use their 20 minutes of daily reading homework to work on their biography, take notes, create a poster, write a short 30-60 minutes speech, and create a costume for their influential American. Family and friends are welcome to come on Friday March 16th from 8:15-9:20 am to experience the wax museum.
Last week students took a SAGE Interim practice test to prepare them for the end of the year. During this time students were able to locate valuable tools such as dictionaries, audio reading, and spell check that help them improve their scores and experience. Please note that during the real SAGE Test at the end of the year if a student is checked out or absent, they will have to make-up that test time on a different date. If you prefer that your student not take the SAGE tests instead of checking them out, please opt them out. You can call the office or email me with more information. Finally, I want to let you know that some students in my class will be performing in the elementary school musical, Willy Wonka Jr.. They perform Thursday-Saturday at 7pm as well as a matinee on Saturday. All performances are free to watch! |
