Library Books must be turned in ASAP to the library. If a student has a library fine, please pay it this week. Thank you. SAGE: Monday, May 21st from 10:30-12:30 is our Science SAGE Test. Math is on Thursday, May 24th from 10:30-12:30. Please make sure your student has had a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast in order to be ready for their test. DANCE FESTIVAL: The Dance Festival is Friday, May 25th from 11:00-12:15 on the back field behind the school. Our dance is the last one in the program. We will dance to the Beach Boy's Surfin' USA. Please send your student in Hawaiian Shirts/Skirts/Dresses, Shorts, Leis, Flowers in their hair, etc. to give our dance costume the feeling of ALOHA! Sage Tests this week are Thursday and Friday. Make sure students arrive to school on time. To opt-out a student download a worksheet online (https://renacademy.org/dynamic/ content/1096/31/2018_parent_opt_out_form_JKmG5.pdf) and turn it into Mrs. Avery ([email protected]).
Thursday, May 17th T-Shirt Book Reports are due. Friday, May 18th from 11:15-12:15 students perform their Utah Program. All students must come in Mountain Man dress. This Tuesday is the last week to submit scholastic book orders online. If you missed that deadline, our school is having their Scholastic Book Fair starting Wednesday. Make sure to pick up some summer reading titles for your student.
SAGE Tests are starting next week. Here is our schedule:
Please note that if your student is absent, he/she will need to make-up the test at a later date. If you know your student will be absent, please notify me right away. If you do not want your student to participate in SAGE testing, please have your student pick up an OPT-OUT form from the office, fill it out, and turn it into the office ASAP. There is no need to check them out during this time. During the SAGE Test, your student will be excused and instead will be working with me on an informal end of the year comprehension check. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! I will put my last book order in by end of business day Monday April 30th. Please go online if you are interested in ordering:
Here is how you can order: 1. Go online to: scholastic.com/newparent 2. Enter our Class Code: QNQLQ 3. Follow instructions to place your order online Also, please ask your student if they are finished with their book they are going to use for their report. I would like them to have their book read this week so they can finish the paper portion of their book report. This will give them a week in class to work on their T-Shirt as well. Finally, I want to tell you about our Literature Circles. We are reading the book "The Whipping Boy" by Sid Fleischman. Students have created their own reading groups. In these groups students will read assigned chapters, have individual jobs that will help promote comprehension and literacy. Each week they will discuss the book together with their group and have a small assessment to check for understanding. This will last for the next three weeks. Ask them about their special jobs! It is starting to be the countdown to the end of the year. To prepare here is some information that you might find helpful. This is the last time I will do Scholastic Book Orders. If you are interesting in purchasing a book that your student might want to read over the summer please follow the directions below:
Here is how you can order: 1. Go online to: scholastic.com/newparent 2. Enter our Class Code: QNQLQ 3. Follow instructions to place your order online Also, students are working on their last book report. Students have been reading myths for their reports. They should be working on the paper portion of their book report. Please ask them about it. Once they show me that 60% or more of that paper is finished I will give them a T-Shirt to finish the report on. Please ask your student about their progress. Last, please be aware that we have a fourth grade end of the year program all about Utah. Students will perform it on Friday, May 18th from 11:15-12:15. Students are to wear mountain man attire. I have told students they should wear something like jeans, brown, tan, black, or navy pants on bottom with a button up shirt. The shirts I suggested have collars and button all the way down and can be solid, plaid, or flannel. They can also wear cowboy type hats or Raccoon Skin Hats. Please let me know if you have any questions. |
